Internally there is some foxing and spotting but overall a very good copy. Front free endpaper has ownership inscription of C.B.Mears.
A description by the missionary John Hedley of his journey through Inner Mongolia, visiting T'a Tzu Kou, Pakou and Jehol, following in the footsteps of James Gilmour. He provides a picture of Mongol life and customs in China, as well as Mongol-Chinese relation, and condemns Lamaism as an "open and filthy sore".
