Paris Gualtieri di San Lazarro. 1960.
Description:

Book Description: XXe siècle is an art journal founded in 1938 by Gualtieri di San Lazzaro. The issues between 1950 and 1960 brought together the most important writers and art critics analysing the development of the work of the artists of the new Paris School. Each number contained, in addition to numerous reproductions, original etchings and lithographs in black and white and colour. Issue XV was entitled "The Revolution of Colour" and contained a colour lithograph by Joan Miro together with colour illustrations of work by Braque, Matisse Soutine, Bacon and Appel. Includes essays "Phoenix of the Mask" by Andre Breton and "Jacobsen's Dolls" by Eugene Ionesco. This is an English edition of the issue, distributed by A. Zwemmer. A scarce example of a groundbreaking journal in good condition and with especially good images.
