London: R. Groombridge; and C. Thurnam, Carlisle. 1840.

Second edition. 8vo in 4s (175x100mm). pp. xvi, 124. Original brown cloth with border in blind inside which is a further border in a rococo design (also in blind) to upper and lower covers. Title in gilt to spine. Bumping to corners and a little wear to head and foot of spine and some soiling to upper cover but this is a nice tight original binding. Frontispiece engraving of Wetheral Bridge, further engraved plate showing "Minnow Tackle" and small woodcuts in the text. Some soiling to the edges and there are pencil notes in the margins but this intended as a practical guide to various patterns of flies and their application in certain conditions including night fishing. Front pastedown has the charming bookplate of E.W.F.Siddall and the blank page after the ffep has the ownership inscription of Henry Sandy. The first edition was published in 1837 and this second edition appears to be no less scarce. A charming book in very good condition.
