Small 8vo. [viii], 112; 2-80, [2 index]. Some insignificant marking and toning throughout otherwise nice and crisp. In original quarter calf over marbled boards with bumping to corners and edges. Spine with gilt bands and title label. Front free endpaper is inscribed: "George A. MacMillan, May 1905". George Macmillan was one of the second generation of the Scottish publishing family. As stated a history of the name of Buchanan and all of its related septs. Also included are brief histories of the MacDonald, MacDougal, MacNeil, McClean, MacCleod, MacKintosh, MacPherson, Robertson, MacFarlane, Cameron, MacLauchlan, MacNaughten, McGregor, Colchoun, Lamond & MacAulay. Curiously, although published in 1793, the book omits any mention of involvement - whether Jacobite or Loyalist - in either the '15 or '45.
