An appealing run of one of the best known botanical periodicals of the 19th-century, comprising the first decade of the periodical's existence in its first five volumes; the entire series was eventually extended to 13 volumes and published up until 1851. Benjamin Maund (c.1790-1864) "sought to share his lifelong passion [for flowers] by producing an interesting and useful publication affordable to everyone" (ODNB). The periodical was published in monthly issues, each with a plate of four figures and eight pages of text, forming a volume each two years with an engraved title.
