This memoir by Mabel Dodge Luhan is a personal recollection of Lawrence’s time in New Mexico where she had invited him to stay. In her preface addressed to Robinson Jeffers, she explains that this book “tries to show you how we felt and acted some years ago...the painful days that brought about changes in us all”. This book has been described as “the best portrait there will ever be of Lawrence himself”.
