Photographic dust jacket with title and author printed in grey to upper cover and spine. There is some very minor bumping to the bottom right of the upper cover but otherwise this is in fine condition throughout. Text in French. Eight page introductory essay by Lélia Wanick Salgado setting out the aim of the book: "This book tells the story of humanity on the move". The four hundred pages of Salgado's stark black and white images tell that story in the most elemental photographic form. The book is divided into four sections. Part one is about migrants and refugees generally - "the instinct for survival". Part two covers "the African tragedy", the third part, Latin America; and part four is about Asia and migration into the cities. This in a moving and fascinating record of one of the most important and pressing questions of the 21st century.
