The four hundred pages of Salgado's stark black and white images tell that story in the most elemental photographic form. The book is divided into four sections. Part one is about migrants and refugees generally - "the instinct for survival". Part two covers "the African tragedy", the third part, Latin America; and part four is about Asia and migration into the cities. This in a moving and fascinating record of one of the most important and pressing questions of the 21st century.
