£850
Londres: Macmillan and Co.. 1869.

First edition in French. 8vo in 4s. (175x122mm). pp. [xii], 196. Blue calf, double fillet border with flower in corners to upper and lower boards. Spine decorated in gilt. Red morocco label lettered in gilt. Edges of the boards are decorated in gilt. Turns-in decorated with a blind-stamped diagonal pattern. Marbled endpapers. Upper cover is decorated in gilt with the crest of Merchant Taylor's School beneath which is a scroll on which is stamped in gilt Laborum Preamia 1880. This was clearly a school prize. Spine is faded, slight rubbing to joints and head and foot of spine but overall an attractive binding in very good condition. Internally very good with some slight foxing to the blank preliminaries. This is a school French prize you would have been happy to receive.
