Very slight chipping and a small closed tear to head of spine of dust jacket and slight fading to spine but otherwise in very good condition throughout. Peake's illustrations play on the dark surrealism of Alice suggesting a wild fantastical humour. These were Alice illustrations for the mid-twentieth century. This Stockholm edition of 1946 predates by eight years the first publication of Peake's Alice drawings in England.
