First edition. 4to. 263x206mm. pp. viii, 363, [8], [1bl]. Six engraved plates (one folding) and a folding frontispiece engraving of a View of Evesham. This image has been used to create an attractive, charming fore-edge painting. Smartly bound in red morocco, spine decorated in gilt, with black morocco label lettered in gilt. Turn-ins decorated with gilt roll, marbled endpapers. Corners bumped and rubbed, spine a little rubbed and worn and some marks to covers. Some foxing and browning but overall a very good copy in a handsome binding. Front free endpaper has the armorial bookplate of Oswald Greenwaye Knapp. The front pastedown has the book label of T. Beale, M.A. and the burgundy morocco bookplate of W.A.Foyle, Beeleigh Abbey.
